If you have used water-based paint, you can easily store the roller. For solvent-based paint, it works slightly different. Read here how you can use your paint brushes and rollers for longer in a few simple steps. Not only is it good for your wallet and for the environment, but it also gives better results.
Storing a wall paint rollers
Are you going to use the paint roller again a few hours later or the next morning with the same paint? Most painters wrap the paint roller in kitchen foil, plastic sheet or a plastic bag and seal it airtight with tape. If you have a Roll and Go Bucket 18 or 25, it’s even quicker. You can leave your roller in the bucket and put the lid on it. This quickly seals it airtight and you can get straight back to work the next day.
Storing rollers with solvent-based paint
These rollers are sometimes wrapped in aluminium foil immediately after use. However, there is a chance that the roller will no longer be flexible and that hard pieces will form on it. We therefore recommend replacing a roller with solvent-based paint for a good result. And dispose of the old roller at the appropriate waste collection point.
Cleaning paint rollers
If you rinse your paint rollers under the tap, microplastics will end up in the drinking water. Unfortunately, this is not good for the environment. As a professional painter, you can also collect waste water. For more information, contact Clean Water Global, for example. If you want to use the paint roller again, it is best to store it in a sealed bucket.
