Cold paint does not flow. Paint manufacturers specify the temperature at which paint can best be processed. If the temperature is lower, the viscosity of the paint increases, becoming more viscous. Thinning can help, but in doing so you change the recipe of the paint, which can lead to loss of gloss and less protection as the paint layer becomes thinner.
