If you are going to varnish an untreated parquet floor, you want to avoid scratching the vulnerable top layer. Sand or dust can easily cause scratches. With a few handy tips, you can ensure a perfect result.

How to prevent scratches on parquet and dust in the varnish

Of course, you should dust your shoes thoroughly and you can put shoe covers on them to make sure you don’t leave any sand or dust behind. A cap or hair net works well to prevent loose hairs.

Clean gloves (without dried paint residue!) and a clean outfit will take care of the rest.

Although… It’s all too easy to forget the paint bucket itself!

We recommend always cleaning the bottom of the bucket and removing any dust before pouring the varnish or paint into it. Always work with clean liners, not rinsed containers, as these almost always contain some hard paint flakes.

If you like to pull the bucket behind you or push it in front of you while rolling – after all, that’s a nice way to work quickly! – you can also place clean furniture felt pads under the container.

This way, the container glides smoothly across the floor without scratching it. Ideal for completely scratch-free parquet flooring!
